Lesson 4: Finding Purpose With Every Season

Recently, we asked women on a survey this question: Do you ever feel scattered, overwhelmed, exhausted, and are tired of being everything to everyone?

We weren't surprised by how eighty percent of them responded.

YES.

Even though these women ranged in age from their twenties to late sixties, their answers were all the same. No matter what season of life we are currently in, we all can feel scattered, overwhelmed, exhausted, and are tired of being everything to everyone.

How we spend our time is determined by what influences us and what distracts us. Often, when we think of our time, we visualize a pie and how divided and broken it can become when sliced into pieces. In terms of wellness, there are eight main areas that influence how we spend our time. The eight areas are:

  1. Faith
  2. Family
  3. Future
  4. Friendships
  5. Finances
  6. Fitness
  7. Food
  8. Feelings

These eight areas of influence not only take up our physical time but also our emotional time. We can easily face decision fatigue and despair over not completing everything on our to-do list each day (hence feeling scattered, overwhelmed, exhausted, and tired). If our goal is for our body and soul to live within spiritual order so we can be restored by rest, how do we make the most of the time we’ve been given?

God is a God of order, we can see this through His creation. God created seasons and we can find purpose in each season of life we are in, along with the physical season that we are currently in. That’s why we’ve created our seasonal guides that offer direction, advice, and information for busy women like you. We want to help you focus and live fully in the here and now.

Our guides are offered four times of the year to correlate with the season. The goal of our seasonal guides is for you to enjoy the season you are in so that you can love yourself and your people with all your heart. Inside each guide, you will enjoy recipes, articles written by local women, interviews with people who inspire us, and a devotional that helps women live focused in a world full of division and distraction. Designed with intentional detail to beauty, this guide will feature stunning photography, inspiring works of art, and words that will move the soul. Get happy because these guides are going to make your life so much better!

Action Tasks:

According to The Barna Group, 68 percent of women view their family as their top priority. Church involvement is a 11 percent priority and personal development comes in at 10 percent.

  1. From the eight influences mentioned in this article, what takes up the most of your time?
  2. What are your biggest distractions?
  3. What do you want more time to do in your current season?
